Consul General Fei Mingxing expressed condolences and best wishes to overseas Chinese in durban

On 21 September 2021, Consul General Fei Mingxing delivered a video message to the staff of Chinese-funded institutions, Overseas Chinese and students in Durban. I wish you all a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day!

Fei said this year has been a challenging one. The epidemic has flared up in China and is continuing in South Africa. Dozens of overseas Chinese communities in Kwana province have been confirmed and many have died. In July Kwana was hit by the worst riots in the history of the new South Africa, with many expatriate businessmen suffering heavy losses.

This year is the year of Solidarity and relief. In the face of the epidemic, overseas Chinese leaders, regardless of their personal safety, have contacted and received medical treatment for the infected Overseas Chinese and helped their families handle the future affairs. During the riot, the Chinese Consulate General gave timely warnings and guidance, and the police-civilian Cooperation Center actively organized joint prevention and protection. More than 100 trapped Overseas Chinese escaped with no casualties, and their lives were basically free of worries.

This year is even more exciting. We are celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China. General Secretary Xi Jinping solemnly declared that we have achieved the first centenary goal, completed the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and embarked on the second centenary goal of building a great modern socialist country in all respects. All Chinese people, including the overseas Chinese in Kwana province, are striving with pride to realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.

Fei stressed that the Chinese Consulate General will continue to provide services with all its heart, and urged people to contact the Chinese Consulate General in case of difficulties. He also reminded people to pay close attention to the local situation, abandon the mentality of paralysis and relaxation, continue epidemic prevention and control, actively participate in the local vaccination program, strengthen safety measures, and steadily promote the resumption of work and school.
