The Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Congo held the seventh coordination Meeting on COVID-19 prevention and control

On August 19, the Chinese Embassy in The Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) held the seventh video conference of the Coordination Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control. The 27th medical Team to Congo, the Association of Chinese-funded Enterprises, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in The Republic of Congo, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the Republic of Congo, the Confucius Institute, journalists of central media in the Republic of Congo and representatives of some enterprises and overseas Chinese attended the meeting. The meeting briefed on the latest situation of the epidemic, listened to measures taken, difficulties faced and relevant suggestions, and made arrangements for the next stage of epidemic prevention.

Ambassador Mafflin said that the current COVID-19 situation is unprecedented.Mutated strains of Delta and Ramdane, with stronger transmission capacity and faster transmission, have become the main factor for the deterioration of the global epidemic. Recently, the epidemic in The Republic of The Congo (Brazzaville) is worsening and the number of confirmed cases is increasing rapidly, posing new challenges to our personnel in the country. At the same time, against the backdrop of regular outbreaks, especially after the implementation of the "Spring Seedling Operation", Chinese people in the DRC are feeling tired and relaxed. In recent months, there have been a number of imported confirmed cases. Our staff in the DRC should stay on high alert and make unremitting efforts to implement epidemic prevention measures. Ambassador Ma put forward the following five guidelines for the next stage of epidemic prevention:

1. Consolidate and strengthen existing epidemic prevention measures. Based on the good epidemic prevention experience and practices in the early years, China has strengthened awareness of epidemic prevention and continued to strictly implement epidemic prevention measures to the letter.

Second, make epidemic prevention more precise and targeted. We should clarify the main channels for the spread of the virus, sort out key risk points, strengthen prevention and control of key places and links, refine the management of the entry and exit of people and goods, and explore a set of effective prevention and control plans suitable for people's work and life.

Third, strengthen information exchange and sharing to form synergy. All compatriots in the Congo should strengthen solidarity and interaction, strengthen communication and remind each other of the local epidemic situation, the health status of Chinese citizens and high-risk places. Do not believe or spread rumors, and report important information to the Embassy in a timely manner.

Fourth, the main responsibility of compaction, strengthen daily management. "Non-essential, non-urgent, no travel" should continue to be adhered to to avoid increasing the risk of infection due to long-distance travel. The Embassy will activate the health code circuit breaker mechanism for units with severe clusters of infections or imported cases due to inadequate epidemic prevention.

V. Pay attention to the physical and mental health of personnel. In the context of the regular and prolonged epidemic, some of our compatriots have experienced great psychological pressure and ideological fluctuations. On the premise of fulfilling epidemic prevention requirements, positive and beneficial recreational and sports activities should be organized to help people relax and relieve tension.

Participants also exchanged views on the vaccination of local employees of enterprises and the local response to the epidemic.

Ambassador Maflin said that the Embassy will donate another batch of epidemic prevention materials to the Overseas Chinese in the DRC through the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to help and support the compatriots in the DRC in the fight against COVID-19. Ambassador Ma stressed that the Health and life safety of every Chinese in Congo is the concern of the Embassy, and the Embassy has always stood with all of you in the fight against the virus, and worked together to overcome the difficulties and win the final victory.
